midcode + GitHubAvailable

Visual edits that end as a clean commit.

midcode publishes what you edit on the canvas to your git repository: it lists every change with its diff, commits only the files you check, and pushes, all in one step. It works with any git remote and uses the credentials your Mac already has. Connecting a GitHub account is optional and lets midcode push as the account that has access to the repository.

01/What you can do

What midcode does with GitHub.

  • See every change before it goes

Each edit is a line in Publish, with the file and its diff. Undo one and it leaves the list.

  • Commit and push in one step

git add, commit and push for the files you marked. Anything else in your working tree is left alone.

  • Branches

Switch branches or create one from the top bar before you start, like you would in a terminal.

  • The right account, on its own

With several GitHub accounts on your Mac, midcode asks GitHub which one can push to the repository and uses that one.

  • A failed push isn’t a lost commit

If the push fails, the commit stays local and the panel offers Push again.

  • A project inside a bigger repo

Publishing works from a site that lives in a folder of a monorepo.

02/How it works

Three steps. No new workflow.

  1. Step 1: Edit

Every change you or your agent make is collected as you go.

  2. Step 2: Review

Open Publish, read the diffs, uncheck what shouldn’t go yet.

  3. Step 3: Publish

Write the commit message and push.

03/Good to know

The honest part.

What it doesn’t do

  • midcode commits and pushes. Pull requests, reviews and merges stay in GitHub.

04/FAQ

GitHub questions. Short answers.

No. Publish uses git on your Mac with the credentials it already has. Connecting GitHub helps when you have more than one account, and lets you follow what happens after the push.

Encrypted on your Mac, in the app’s main process. It’s never sent to midcode’s servers or to any other host.

Publishing is plain git, so any remote your Mac can push to works. The account connection is for GitHub.
